🛟 Recovery guide
Your PC won't boot anymore?
Don't panic. In 99% of cases it is recoverable in 10-20 minutes without losing personal data. Three paths in order of ease.
1
Automatic Repair
★ Easiest path
No USB needed. You leverage the automatic recovery mechanism already built into Windows.
- Turn on the PC normally. When you see the spinning Windows logo during loading, hold the case POWER button for 5-10 seconds until the PC shuts off abruptly.
- Turn it back on and repeat: as soon as you see the Windows logo again, force shutdown.
- Turn it back on and repeat a third time. Same procedure.
- On the fourth power-on Windows should automatically show: "Preparing Automatic Repair…"
- The blue screen "Your PC did not start correctly" appears → click
Advanced options
- Go to
Troubleshoot → Advanced options → System Restore (⚠ do NOT click "Reset this PC" which would delete your files)
- Choose an account, enter the password if requested
- Select the restore point from before the tweaks were applied (older date)
- Confirm → wait 10-15 minutes → the PC reboots automatically
- Windows returns to the pre-tweak state ✅
Your personal files are safe. System Restore only touches registry and drivers. Photos, documents, browser, email: no impact.
2
Safe Mode
If Automatic Repair does not trigger but you can reach the advanced options.
- Force 3 shutdowns during boot (like Path 1, steps 1-3)
- From Automatic Repair →
Advanced options → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings
- Click
Restart
- On restart a numbered menu appears. Press F4 (or
4) for Safe Mode
- Windows starts in safe mode (without drivers/tweaks active in the services)
- Open the Start menu, type
rstrui and press Enter → System Restore opens
- Proceed as in Path 1 from step 7
3
USB Windows Installer
When Automatic Repair does not start and you cannot reach the advanced options.
- From another working PC: download the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft site (search "windows 11 media creation tool")
- Insert an empty USB drive of at least 8 GB and create the Windows 11 installation media
- On the stuck PC: plug in the USB and turn it on. At startup press F12 for the boot menu (on Gigabyte/Aorus boards it is
F12, other brands may vary)
- Select the USB in the boot menu
- Load the Windows setup. At the bottom left click "Repair your computer" (NOT "Install now")
Troubleshoot → Advanced options → System Restore
- Proceed as in Path 1 from step 7
If you don't have a second PC: you can ask a friend, or take it to any computer shop — creating the USB takes 10 minutes and the recovery operation is free or cheap.
⚠
Things NOT to do
- ❌ Do NOT click "Reset this PC" in Automatic Repair → it would delete all your files
- ❌ Do NOT reformat the disk if clean install options appear
- ❌ Do NOT delete partitions from the installation setup
- ❌ Do NOT attempt a BIOS reset unless you have done the three attempts above without success (and in that case contact us)
